(St. Paul, MN)  --  Minnesota's tree population is under seige from more than one type of destructive insect.  First, the emerald ash borer.  And now the gypsy moth has migrated to the state, infesting many varieties of trees in the Arrowhead Region of northeastern Minnesota.  The state Agriculture Department's Mike Schommer [[ SHOW'-mer ]] says the gypsy moth is most destructive in the caterpillar stage.  It can damage leaves to the point that a tree in mid-summer looks more like a tree in fall for winter.
